Geographic location and commuting patterns from the 1990 Census indicate five counties should be included in the Weakley County labor market area. These counties including Weakley are: Gibson, Carroll, Henry and Obion.

Available Labor is derived by adding to the unemployed, the partially unemployed (those who worked less than full time during the survey week), and discouraged workers (persons no longer in the labor force but could be drawn back if suitable jobs were available).

According to the U.S. Census, the population estimate of 2003 in Weakley was 34,314.

The per capita income in 2002 for the county was $21,625.

The 1990 Census reported 3,273 workers commuting out of and 1,880 into Weakley County. This is a net loss of 1,393.
